- Italy requires twelve years of schooling, so an eleven-year certificate needs a bridging year or one year of university at home before it is accepted. Admission runs through Universitaly and the Italian consulate on a fixed annual calendar — we work backwards from the pre-enrolment date, not from the university's own deadline.
Worth knowing before you pay
Italian public universities set tuition by FAMILY INCOME, assessed through a document called the ISEE, and award need-based grants on the same basis. A family that files it correctly can pay very little; a family that does not file it is charged the top band.
